INTRODUCTION OF 1ST AID

WHAT IS 1ST AID ?
It is the skilied application of principle of treatment on the occurrenceof any injury or in case of illness, using facilities or materials available at the time.It is the approved method of managing a casualty until he/she is placed, if necessary, in the care of doctor or other skilled aid or removel to hospital.

WHY IS EMERGENCY AID SO IMPORTANT ?
When Emergency Aid is required, it is needed very quickly and this section explains why:
In some ways the body is like a machine and damage of any of he parts can involve the rest. In particular, if the brain is effected and stops working, we die. The brain can be damaged directly or indirectly by injury or illness. If the effect of this is to reduce the supply of oxygen to the brain, its working will be impaired.
Oxygen enters the body when we breath in air. If the breathing (respiration) system is damaged so that air does not enter the body the casualty will die. This drawing shows the passages down which air travels to the lungs.

Once the air has reached the lungs, its oxygen must then be carried to the brain (and other parts of body) and the blood and the circulatory system do thisfor us. The oxygen is carried from the lungs in the red blood cell. Bright red (oxygenated) blood passes into the heart and is the pumped around the body through blood vessels called arteries. When the oxygen has ben used by body tissues the (deoxygenated) blood flows through the veins to the heart and back to the lungs.

COURSE II

At there, we learned many things such as 1st aid, transportation, bandaging and CPR...
